DARA GRUENBERG

Dara Gruenberg, a dedicated resident of Scarsdale for 13 years, is serving her first term on the Village Board as Deputy Mayor. In this role, she chairs the Personnel Committee, vice-chairs the Pool Committee, and serves as a liaison to various groups, including the Scarsdale Business Alliance. Previously, she led significant community initiatives as Chair of the Advisory Council on Communications, President of the Friends of the Scarsdale Library, and Co-Chair of the Library’s transformative Capital Campaign.

Dara has also served on the Village Board of Ethics, and held leadership roles with Westchester Reform Temple, the Scarsdale Forum, and the League of Women Voters Scarsdale. She has participated in the Citizens Nominating Committee, co-chaired the Scarsdale Citizens Non-Partisan Party Campaign, and served on the Scarsdale Bowl Committee.

Beyond Scarsdale, Dara is Vice Chair of the Foundation Board at White Plains Hospital and Co-Chair of its capital campaign. She is also a Board member at Feeding Westchester. Her leadership has been recognized with the Scarsdale Family Counseling Rising Star Award (2018) and a Women’s History Month honor from NYS Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (2021) for her Covid-19 relief efforts.

Before Scarsdale, Dara worked as a Latin teacher and school administrator in Manhattan. She holds a B.A. cum laude in Classics from Barnard College and a Master of Education from Bank Street College. She lives in Fox Meadow with her husband, Jon, and their children, Cornelia and Jake.
